 Twisted Barrel

Twisted Barrel, Carlos Taylor-Swanson, 2009 $2,750.  More experimentation and exploration, I had wanted to see if the twist I had visualized was possible.  The wood was from a local sawer who had harvested the ginko from a fallen limb (over 8″ wide!) of a tree on the grounds of the Meeker Mansion in Puyallup WA.  The hickory was from a home owner who had needed to remove the tree.

Pacific Trestle 1  Pacific Plaza 2

Pacific Trestle, Carlos Taylor-Swanson, 2009 $975.  In 2009 we built custom casework and furniture for the new offices of a local engineering firm.  These offices were in the brand new remodeled Pacific Plaza building.  During the remodeling of the parking garages the old wooden barriers were changed out for contemporary cabling systems.  This table is made from the wood from the old barriers…and a cool strip of metal found in the garbage!

Café2 Café Café3

Café, Carlos Taylor-Swanson 2009.  $ 1,900.  Made from a bookmatched pair of Claro walnut slabs and reclaimed fir. 28″w. x 40″l. x 18″ h.Claro walnut is known for its exception grain patterning and figure.  Grown primarily in California, this wood is from the grafted orchard trees used in walnut (nuts) farming.  Before the older trees become rotted with disease the wood is harvested and the trees are re-planted.  This is an excellent source of a sustainable and beautiful wood.  The reclaimed fir was sourced from a local salvage company.  The legs are painted with acrylic paint and the entire table is finished with a waterborne cross-linking finish.

Reveal2 Reveal3

Reveal, Carlos Taylor-Swanson (design collaboration with Steve Lawler), 2009.  $ 2,100  Bookmatched elm slab top with walnut legs.  Finished with a waterborne cross-linking finish.   33 1/2″w. x 43 1/2″ l. x 38″ h.

Triquetra

Triquetra, Carlos Taylor-Swanson, 2008.  $1,200.  Inspired by the mysteries of the number 3, this side table is made from Jatoba (Brazillian Cherry) with a tung oil finish.  16″ diam. top x 19″ h.
